The importance of links

Links are the backbone of internet, they're the most easy and convenient way to jump from one page to another, so you should give them the importance they deserve.

By creating links on your page, on others people's page via comments, on forums and so on, you allow people to jump directly to interesting parts of your profile.

Creating links to your page will help increase the number of visitors. Making the navigation to your profile easier and better will help increasing the number of page views per visitor.

It is also very important to understand the importance that search engines like google give to links. Each link to a page is indexed and count for this page's rank, so the more links to your page, the higher your chance to come first on google !

A link is made of two parts : the URL part and the text part.

The URL stands for "Uniform Resource Locator" and usually starts with "http://".

The text part is what appears to the reader as a clickable text or graphic. Using the right keywords in the text of your links will help your google rankings as well !

How to do a HTML link

In the blog text editor

Type, then select the text of your link, click on the small chain icon in the toolbar, enter the url without the http, done.

In comments, messages and forums

Creating a link is not difficult, so don't be afraid here, there's no need to be an IT engineer to master the HTML link :)

Example link

<a href="http://url_to_your_page.html">Your text content here</a>

If you need to practice, there is a very good site here with a live html editor and lots of examples.
